From Jerri Menaul: Tonight I had the honor of being a part of such a beautiful create. Joanne's Closet on Cleveland Street hosted a Women's After Hours event. Imagine a clothing boutique Filled with new, used, designer, imported, affordable, many sizes, all very good quality clothing, shoes, handbags, casual, formal attire. This was the backdrop. There was a poetry reading, There was singing -- spontaneous and soulful, There was an art showing by Souxie Hart, There were models who talked with browsers about how to break into modeling as a way to make money, I was in the corner doing makeover's and having a blast visiting with old friends, new friends and just being a part of an amazing theta evening. Joanne is going to host events on an ongoing basis. If you have a group who is looking for a cool place to have a meeting or an event, go and see her -- she may be willing to allow you to use her shop. If you have a talent and want a place to showcase it, go and see her. If you want to purchase some original, very good quality clothing that is priced fairly, go and see her! These were the comments I received when I went into work a couple of days ago with a new outfit I'd gotten from Joanne's Closet. Three women in 2 minutes originated these remarks. I'm not kidding. And last week when I first put on another outfit from Joanne's, I called her to tell her how much prettier I felt. The clothes at Joanne's Closet are not just used clothes. They are ultra-stylish clothes that have come from California, where they were used on TV show sets or in movies. They are perfect quality, at unbelievably reasonable prices. I bought a dress, 2 pairs of shoes, a Liz Claiborne purse, and a rayon colorful 3-piece pantsuit, all for $100. And Joanne threw in a matching necklace as a gift. Joanne (born Giovanna) is from Italy and has a great sense of fashion and style - she'll take things off her racks and hand them to you and put outfits together that immediately make you feel like a million bucks. If you haven't yet gone, you have to go. If you've already been, go again. Joanne called me yesterday to let me know that she's just gotten in a new shipment. This store is a little treasure on Cleveland St. on the south side, just a few doors down from Peter Gillham's. She has clothes for work, events or even just if you need a lift.
